Guide for Authors

The Health and Diversity Journal accepts articles submitted for publication written in Portuguese and English. When the articles are submitted in Portuguese, it should also have a title and an abstract in English.

The manuscripts submitted to the journal Health and Diversity must have the following recommendations:

* Use of word processing software Microsoft Word (.DOC or .DOCX).
* Use Times New Roman, size 12, space between lines 1.5, A4 size sheet. The text should be formatted in a single column.
* We have not limit of pages for publication. However we have a limit of Figures / Tables (together):
   ─ Original Articles (limit of 8 Figures / Tables);
   ─ Reviews and Overviews (limit of 6 Figures / Tables);
   ─ Mini-reviews (limit of 3 Figures / Tables);
   ─ Short Communications, Technical Notes, Pop Science (limit of 2 Figures / Tables).

Concise and informative. Avoid abbreviations where possible.

Author names and affiliations
Please clearly indicate the given name (s) and family name (s) of each author. The middle name (s) should be abbreviated. Present the authors' affiliation addresses below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript number immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate affiliation.

Corresponding author 
Clearly Indicate (*) who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. We recommended using institutional address and phone number.

a) Subdivision - numbered sections
Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1.1, 1.2, etc. (the abstract is not included in section numbering). 

b) Abstract
A concise and factual abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the main results and major conclusions. The abstract shouldt be presented before introduction without references. Do not exceed 250 words.
The abstract should be divided. For original articles: Introduction, Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusion. For reviews: Introduction, Objective, Methods, Development and Conclusion.

c) Keywords
Immediately after the abstract, provide 3 to 5 keywords.

d) Introduction
State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background, avoiding the summary of the results.

e) Material and methods
Provide sufficient details to allow the work to be reproduced. Methods already published should be indicated by the reference: only relevant modifications should be described. All animals and humans (with lineage cells exceptions) studies need to ensure they are according to Ethical Committee guidelines (the number of approval should be added in the text and the approval document attached with article submission).

f) Results
Results should be clear and concise.

g) Discussion
This should explore the significance of the results of the work based on the literature.

h) Conclusions
The main conclusions of the study may be presented in a short Conclusions section, using only one paragraph.

i) Conflict of Interest
The authors should indicate any conflict of interest. If there is the conflict, please write in this section: "The authors do not have any conflicts of interest to disclose."

j) Acknowledgements
Acknowledgements should appear at the end of the article before the references in a separated section, not numbered. List here those individuals who provided help during the research (e.g. providing language help, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.). Also put in this section the funding sources.

k) References
Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also presented in the list reference (and vice versa).

Reference formating
There are no strict requirements on reference formatting at submission. References can be in any style or format as long as the style is consistent. Where applicable, author (s) name (s), title journal / book title, chapter title / article title, year of publication, volume number / book chapter and the pagination must be present. Include all authors names. Do not use et al. in the list references. Use et al. only in the citation, when there are more than 3 authors. We encourage the use of softwares for formating references. These include all products that support Citation Language styles, such as Mendeley and Zotero, as well as EndNote.

Tables should be placed next to the relevant text in the article. Please submit the tables editable text and not as images.

Figures should NOT APPEAR  in the manuscript. They should be submitted separately. It can be Submitted in power point format (.PPT and .PPTX) or JPG (≥ 300 dpi), all using good resolution. The caption of the figures should be presented in the end of the manuscript (after references). Ensure that each illustration has a caption. The caption should comprises a brief title (not on the figure itself) and a description of the illustration.
